Auditions for THE CEMETERY CLUB BY IVAN MENSCHELL will be at the‘Mayors Parlour’ In Issigeac on Friday 30th November at 7.30
The play features three middle aged Jewish friends, who live in New York. Each widowed in the past couple of years.
Once a month, they get together, have tea and gossip before going to visit their husband’s graves.
Doris remains fiercely devoted to her late husband and takes her responsibilities as a widow seriously.
Lucille is eager to get her feet back into the waters of dating, partly as revenge against her late husband, who often cheated on her, and partly because she is lonely.
After 30 years of marriage, Ida is also not used to being alone, but she does not feel ready to start dating again, at least, not until the local butcher – Sam – begins to take an interest in her.
Doris protests when she learns that Ida is dating Sam, while Lucille is rather jealous that Ida has snagged a man before her. Their friend, Selma, invites them to all to her wedding, and all the resentments, jealousies and emotions come to the surface.
Teresa will be looking to cast Ida, Doris and Lucille and a fourth female, as well as a Sam, the smooth and amiable local butcher. She is also looking for a stage manager and assistant stage manager to help with locating and placing props.
